Cybersecurity Awareness Month, organized by Digital and Technology Solutions, drew hundreds of people to tabling events in Bruin Plaza and Dickson Court North in October. In addition, more than 800 Bruins completed the cybersecurity quiz at these events and online for a chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer Bonny Bentzin spoke at “Closing the Circle 2025: From Excess to Access,” This day long conference, presented by the UCLA Rothman Family Institute for Food Studies and local organizations Los Angeles Food Policy Council, FoodCycle and End Hunger LA, brought together national speakers, local experts and food recovery leaders to explore how surplus food can transform our food system. Tony Lucas, executive director of Events and Transportation, received the 2025 President’s Award from the California Mobility & Parking Association at an event in San Jose. This annual recognition is given to individuals and programs that have made significant contributions to the California parking and mobility industry.
Folks from Administration Marketing and Communications and the Office of the Administrative Vice Chancellor are among the latest to earn Yellow Belt certification from Organizational Effectiveness and Development. The single-day continual process improvement training is offered at no charge to UCLA employees, individually or in groups.
The team from Transportation delivered another successful Sustainable Transportation Month in October. This year’s campaign encouraged Bruins to try sustainable commuting options like walking, biking, public transit, carpooling or telecommuting instead of driving alone. The month featured events October 6-8, with prizes, giveaways and vendor information for those who pledged to try an alternative commute.
