I want to begin by recognizing the heart of UCLA Administration — our roughly 4,800 team members. Each day, your resilience, creativity and dedication inspire me. The work you do, and the spirit you bring to it, are what make UCLA such a remarkable institution.

In recent months, our teams have stepped forward with focus and gracious service, finding solutions, supporting one another and ensuring that our common purpose to deliver exceptional Bruin experiences continues to be realized. Your commitment has not gone unnoticed. Because of your hard work, we remain strong; because of your spirit, I am confident we will emerge even stronger in 2026 and be more innovative and united around our mission. UCLA cannot be successful without Administration being successful.

At the same time, I want to acknowledge the financial realities we are experiencing. UCLA is facing a significant structural deficit, which is being made even more critical by the state and federal funding limitations that have exacerbated the financial challenges requiring us to adapt, rethink priorities and make difficult choices. I know this can feel uncertain, but I am deeply grateful for the professionalism and resilience you continue to demonstrate as we navigate these changes together.

These adjustments are not only about meeting today’s needs; they are about building a stronger foundation for tomorrow through our commitment to the UCLA Strategic Plan, especially Goal 5 - becoming a more effective university.  Through innovative practices, we can streamline our operations, strengthen our systems, and create greater stability for long‑term success.

Every contribution you make in daily tasks, creative problem‑solving and supporting colleagues helps transform UCLA in extraordinary ways. Your dedication is propelling us toward a future that is more secure, agile and ready to meet the needs of our community, our state, our nation and the world.

While the road ahead may require difficult choices and change, please know that our Administrative Leadership Team is fully committed to protecting the true Bruin values that define us: integrity, excellence, accountability, respect and service.
