The UCLA Events Office and Luskin Conference Center and Hotel recently collaborated with UCLA Athletics to welcome World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc (WWE) to UCLA. The organization was in town for WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium, as well as WWE Smackdown and Monday Night Raw, which were both held at Crypto.com Arena.

While in Los Angeles, the WWE also conducted tryouts for 50 current and recently graduated college athletes, each competing for a contract to become a WWE superstar, at UCLA’s Wasserman Football Center and Spaulding Field. Athletes and organizers stayed at the Luskin Hotel and enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared daily by the Luskin Banquet team. Meals were served on the Centennial Terrace and in the Centennial Ballroom, said Luis Amaya, a sales and event manager at the Luskin Conference Center and Hotel.

As part of this three-day event, Monica Siasoco and Robert Ulloa, event managers in UCLA Events and Transportation, coordinated logistics for the WWE to film tryouts, and worked with Amaya to document the athletes in their hotel rooms as they prepared for tryouts each morning each day and again in end-of-day interviews. Siasoco and Ulloa also managed other key requirements, including drone flight approval, facilities coordination and security, and ensured that campus filming regulations were adhered to.
