UCLA alumna Borae Kim has been named chief administrative officer for UCLA Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S). Kim, who reports to Assistant Vice Chancellor Curtis Plotkin, brings an impressive set of skills to EH&S, including extensive experience in finance, human resources and operations. The position is a first for the department of approximately 70 employees. In this role, Kim is part of the EH&S leadership team and oversees the department’s InfoTech and Administrative functions.
Prior to joining EH&S, Kim was the chief finance officer and senior fund manager at the UCLA Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics, where she managed multiple accounts and funds, including a $25 million National Science Foundation grant, foundation and gift funds, sales and service, private gifts, and grants totaling $35 million. She also contributed her skillset as an administrative manager at the UCLA Center for Digital Humanities (HumTech).
Her skills also include human resources and operations management. Kim holds a BA in history from UCLA and is fluent in Korean. She, along with her husband and son, enjoy walking their two dogs. In her spare time, she likes to cook and contribute to her son’s educational community.
