Tony Lucas will be joining UCLA as executive director of UCLA Events and Transportation, effective July 17. Lucas brings a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge to UCLA after spending 16 years in higher education at California State University, Sacramento, where he most recently served as associate vice president of business and administrative services. In that role, he oversaw resource and organizational management, transportation and parking services, university print and mail, space management and sustainability and energy management.
Prior to his current position, Lucas held the role of senior director of university support services from 2016 to 2019, and senior director of transportation and parking services from 2012 to 2016. In both roles, he was responsible for numerous transportation solutions implemented by the university, including award-winning parking structures, bicycling programs, and a shuttle bus system utilizing BioCNG produced from university organic waste. He also collaborated with the City of Sacramento Mayor’s Office and the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) to pilot an autonomous vehicle shuttle on the Sacramento State campus.
