Maria Silva and Maria Hernandez, both decade-long donors who work in UCLA Dining’s commissary, rolled up their sleeves in support of Housing & Hospitality’s summer blood drive. The July event resulted in 75 donations, all benefiting patients at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The next H&H blood drive will be held Monday, Nov. 9, in De Neve Plaza, Rooms A & B, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donors will receive four hours of comp time, and their donation will be added to UCLA’s Big 10 Blood Drive Challenge tally. Bring your BruinCard for check-in. All UCLA community members are invited to participate. Registration is encouraged. 

Fabiola Gutierrez Duarte (left), a food service worker/banquet server at UCLA Catering, and Katty Garcia, PBX operator at the Luskin Conference Center, were among 12 individuals who recently completed the Housing & Hospitality (H&H) Mentoring Program. Established in 2002, the program provides H&H team members with opportunities for skill and career development through 1:1 mentorship and monthly professional development workshops. To date, roughly 350 mentees have completed the program.

The project aims to highlight nature and native biodiversity along transit corridors ahead of the 2028 Olympics while also enhancing cooling and engaging communities. The first planting day will be September 26 in connection with UCLA Volunteer Day. 

Team members from Events & Transportation enjoy a little time together in the sun during the department’s annual summer celebration. This appreciation event marks the end of the academic year and includes a luncheon, games and activities.
