Building a stronger sense of community, getting some exercise and having fun with fellow Bruins were the goals of the UCLA PreK-12 Community 5K Walk/Run. The event was held Sunday, May 22 from 8-11 a.m. The course route began at Wilson Plaza and navigated its way through the UCLA campus.
All UCLA students, faculty and staff, whether or not they have a student enrolled in or are associated with a UCLA Pre-K program or school, were invited to participate. Volunteer tasks included checking in race participants, passing out t-shirts and water, guiding racers along the course and handing out medals to the finishers.
The event was preceded by a pre-walk/run stretch led by an instructor from UCLA’s Fitwell program. Light refreshments and food were served following the walk/run. Therapy dogs from UCLA Health and arts and crafts activities for children were also part of the festivities.
