Two new transit passes improve campus access for Bruins

UCLA Students

Transportation rolled out two new programs, expanding access to all seven transit agencies serving the campus.

First introduced this summer is the Commuter All Access Pass, offering employees unlimited rides on four long-distance lines: Antelope Valley Transit Authority, LADOT Commuter Express, Santa Clarita Transit and Long Beach Transit. As a bonus, pass holders can also enjoy unlimited rides on the three local lines serving the campus. These include Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Culver CityBus and LA Metro bus and rail lines, as well as Metro Micro, the agency’s rideshare service.

Offered at a discount and available through the BruinTAP for Transit portal, the new pass is priced the same or lower than the fees previously charged for commuter line passes. The Commuter All Access Pass provides employees who live far from campus with more convenience than ever – and at an affordable rate.

For the fall quarter, thanks to the approval of a transit pass referendum in the Undergraduate Students Association Council spring election, UCLA’s undergraduate student body will be granted unlimited access to L.A.'s public transit system for a quarterly fee less than a cup of coffee.

The new Bruin U-Pass provides all undergraduate students with unlimited-use, fare-fee rides on all seven transit agencies serving the UCLA campus for the small price of $3.30 per quarter.

First-year students and new transfer students will arrive right in time, with the pre-paid pass ready for undergraduates at the start of the academic year.

Bruin U-Pass will be available for three years; then, the program will require another approval by the undergraduate population to continue.

Both new transit pass offerings from UCLA Transportation expand access to the campus, as well as Los Angeles, and have the potential to help reduce parking demand, cut back on traffic congestion, improve air quality and reduce tailpipe emissions by getting Bruins out of their cars and on the bus.
