Onboarding with a Mission


As new Fire and OEM staff members were welcomed amidst the COVID hybrid flexible hour working season, new challenges with onboarding new personnel in this new working environment were discovered. In an effort to ensure that new staff felt included and welcomed, OEM and UCLA Fire organized a scavenger hunt to help orient them with the campus and connect them with their new colleagues and members of the leadership team. Each individual was provided a campus map, a list of 16 campus locations and a task to complete at each destination over the course of eight weeks. It has been fun seeing them learn more about campus and meet fellow Bruin staff along the way. We hope this might offer you a creative activity to consider when onboarding your new personnel in an effort to improve your onboarding experience and increase employee engagement.
