Now that we’ve completed the Work Environment Pulse Survey, what happens to the results? Gerrie Zvara responds.
The Work Environment Survey (WES) is deployed every other year within the Administration organization. The feedback from the WES is used to create action items that the departments implement to address areas of improvement before the next iteration of the full survey. Employees can review Administration’s priority areas and departmental action plans on the OED website.
Between each WES deployment, a Pulse survey is administered to assess the progress of the implemented action items. The WES Pulse survey results is a gauge to determine if these actions are leading to positive changes in the work environment.
Each department should take the opportunity to assess what is going well and what still needs improvement. It is important that departments address areas where progress is lagging and determine the appropriate response towards a more impactful solution. This could mean redirecting an implemented action if it is not producing the desired results. Determine why the effort was not as successful as expected and adjust the approach.
The expectation is to gradually move the needle towards a positive trend. Achieving this goal may not happen by the next deployment of the full survey, but the upward trend will indicate perceived improvements in the work environment and that is a good place to be.
OED will continue to partner with departments in preparation for the next deployment of the WES.
