UCLA Mobile Testing Bus Brings COVID-19 Tests Directly to Bruins

It's now easier for Bruins who are living or working on or near campus to get tested for COVID-19. UCLA Transportation has partnered with the Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center to bring testing directly to the UCLA community by converting a BruinBus into a mobile testing unit. Since launching in November, the UCLA COVID Mobile Testing Bus has conducted more than 10,000 tests in support of the university's COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

UCLA Transportation has played a vital role throughout the process, including assisting with logistics. In addition to supplying a vehicle and drivers, the department helped develop a testing location schedule that, according to demographic research, has been beneficial to the majority of users. The department’s marketing and communications team also created and distributed targeted digital and physical advertisements to help spread awareness.

The COVID Mobile Testing Bus operates weekdays at locations convenient to where many Bruins live, including graduate housing complexes and the Wilshire Center. Testing is free for students, faculty and staff with an active BruinCard, and is quick and painless using a self-administered nasal swab. The process is as easy as picking up a test kit, performing the test under nearby canopies or in the privacy of your home, and returning the kit to the mobile testing bus once completed. Most results arrive within 24-36 hours via text or email.

More information, including hours, locations and appointment scheduling, is available via the Ashe Center’s website.
